La N-méthylpyrrolidone est un liquide transparent incolore avec une forte hygroscopicité, miscible avec de l'eau dans n'importe quelle proportion, et a une légère odeur amine. La N-méthylpyrrolidone est un excellent solvant avancé, largement utilisé dans les matériaux pétrochimiques, pesticides, médicaux, électroniques et autres champs.
